Pictured in Charlton Works (Central Repair Depot) entrance is car 1408. This car was built in 1909 and Rehabilitated in April 1936 it was scrapped in May 1951. Notice the conduit slot runout / run in. Some overhead wiring was installed in the works but in the main the tramcars were shunted around using a steam locomotive to 1931 then by a tractor. |

Thes pair 1409 and 1388 were used as the Charlton Works staff cars. 1409 was built in 1909 and scrapped in June 1951. E1R 1388 was built in 1909 re-habilitated in May 1936 and also scrapped in June 1951.
1388 was from a batch of first series E1 cars fitted with two trolley poles. |
