Rotherhithe Tunnel |
The car is just about to pass by the tunnel entrance. This car was built in 1931. It exchanged its trucks for E3 Maximum Traction trucks after its original trucks were taken for use on experimental car No. 1. like HR2s 101 to 159 it had no trolley poles as these cars were designed for Hilly routes (services 11 and 58) that were whollly on the conduit system. It was scrapped in April 1952 on E3 bogies.
In the background you can see the ring that helped cut the Rotherhithe tunnel in the background right. The RT Bus is on Route 82 that used to go through the tunnel to teminate at Stepney. |
