Bricklayers Arms |
This car is at the junction of the New Kent Road facing Tower Bridge Road waiting for the traffic lights to change when it will turn left into Old Kent Road passing the "Bricklayers Arms" Pub.
This area was been completely changed by the construction of a roundabout and flyover in the 1960's.
E1 588 was built in 1930 using trucks and other equipment from a 'G' class subway car as can be seen by the wider than normal lower deck centre pillar. It waas scrapped in June 1952. |

This car was built in 1922 and scrapped at Penhall Road in October 1951.
The car on service 38 is E1 Rehab 1507. In the distance on service 40 is car E1 567. Outside New Cross depot was the best place to see many tramcars especially in the rush hours as perhaps up to 30 cars could be waiting to enter the depot. |
